Blog-8 Back to Nature

I crept towards the top and tried to peer up to the top, but I still couldn't see what was up there. I tried to think of what to do when I got up there if there was a beast. All I could think about was the Lord of the Flies. The conversation had felt so real that I couldn't shake the feeling that it had actually happened. It scared me to think of what it had said about them doing me in. When I reached the top I was tremulous. When I worked up the courage to look I slowly peeked over the top of the mountain and there sat a parachutist covered in flies just like the lord of the flies. He was stuck on a rock and when the wind picked up he would rise and when the wind died down his head would fall back in to his lap. It startled me at first, but then I was sure he was dead and it made me sick. I threw up until nothing else would come out and then I approached the body gagging as I did. I untangled the mess of strings on the parachutes and released his body from the rock. I then set the body down gently and felt good that I had laid him to rest in a way. Something caught my eye off in the distance and saw a trickle of smoke. I had to get down there and tell them about the beast not being real. My legs were so tired that I could barely walk, but there was a steadfast dedication I had to move on tell them my secret. I staggered onward to the smoke blundering through the forest. When I reached the Smoke I saw a circle of savagery and corruption. They were dancing around in a circle chanting something about the beast. I saw Piggy and Ralph and rushed out to tell them about the parachutist. Everybody at the party screamed and then a whole riot of boys came at me with spears. They thought I was the beast. I tried to run away, but there were too many of them I got down to the beach then fell down and screamed bloody murder as spears pierced my skin. My life flashed before me and then something flew by. The parachutist. All the boys screamed thinking it was the real beast and they ran anway leaving me there to die. I layed there in the sand as the tide came up and decided there was no other place I would rather die and closed my eyes letting the tide take me out to sea.

I like how you compared what they thought was the beast(the parachutist) with what Simon knew as the beast(the LOTF). I also really liked the ending."I layed there in the sand as the tide came up and decided there was no other place I would rather die and closed my eyes letting the tide take me out to sea." It was really creative how you connected his love with nature to how he would like to die.
