I heard the shrill ululation and then a boy flew out onto the beach. A whole group of boys followed. They all had painted faces except for the boy in the front who stood there and looked at me and then I spoke,
"Who's the leader here"
The boy quickly answered, "I am."
Another boy stepped out but then quickly returned to his group Cowering behind some of the other boys. I started to talk to the boy in the front again.
"It looks like you boys were having a war or something," I said.
"Yes we were," he replied very seriously.
"No casualties I hope."
"Only two," he replied.
I was stunned. I couldn't visualize British school boys killing each other. They were a bunch of savages. We got them on the boat and I began to talk with the boy in the front of the group whose name I later found out was Ralph. We started to talk and he elaborated on what had happened during his time on the island. Ralph was very helpful on the ship and quickly learned how to sail and was soon heaving anchors and doing other chores on the boat. When we returned to England he went back to his family and wrote me every week.

Blog 14- Blog 10 Revision "No more Fire"
The fire had been such a great thing for us on the island. It gave us a Chance to get away from everybody and talk to each other while we collected wood. Back home we often played by ourselves because we enjoyed each others company more than anyone else's. And since Piggy's glasses had been stolen the fire was gone along with the hope of being rescued and it was all Jacks fault. Now we spent our days leading piggy around and helping him get food which was nowhere near as fun as getting firewood. The trip to castle rock was terrible. Piggy thought he could reason with Jack but all it did was get him killed. Poor Piggy. He had been a great friend and the loss was terrible and now we had to live with the boys who killed two of our best friends. Ralph was a great leader but nobody else thought like him except for us, Piggy and Simon. Ralph would have had a chance in the fight if the rest of the tribe hadn't been there but now we were here getting teased by the others and hating life. We had been forced to join this tribe and Jack was a terrible leader, He didn't even let us collect fire. Our favorite thing to do.
Blog 13- Blog 7 Revision "Hunting the Beat"
We had been walking all day and my feet were tired, but there was no way Jack or Ralph were going to let us stop. Even when we asked for a quick break they were uncompromising. We had now reached the other end of the island where no one had ever been and there we stopped for the first time. I started to think about my time on the island so far and how it had been the first day I arrived. The way we had walked in the two lines with such dignity, now all that was left of that part of my life was a black cap and my memory. I remembered how all of the littluns came out of the forest sniveling and whining about wanting their parents and the little scrapes and bruises that were all over their body. I looked back up at the rock that looked like a castle and saw little coverts all over the place.
"We need to keep going,"said Jack happy to be in charge.
We all got up and head up the pink rock that we had now decided to call castle rock. There were narrow ledges all over the place and we found one that looked like it led up to the top. I followed the rest of the group with jack leading and Ralph right behind them. When we came to the neck you could see out in to the ocean which seemed infinite. We decide to continue on along the ledge up to the top, but when we were to the top we all got a little scared of what might be at the top and decide to try a different route through the forest. When got into the forest we blundered through the first part until we came to a pig run. We walked along that for a while when all of a sudden a boar came flying at us we all jumped into the brush except for Ralph who was deep in thought and didn't even notice the pig until the last second. Then he flung his spear right in to the nose and it stuck there for a second while the pig ran off. Everyone stood there in amazement. Ralph who was not a hunter had just fought off a wild boar. I was starting to think maybe Ralph wasn't so bad after all.
"Did you see that!"He yelled. "I stabbed it right in the nose!"
Everyone ran over to congratulate him and talk to him. I thought it was dumb that they admired him so much, he wasn't even all that great. Then Jack ran over there with a bloody arm saying that he had tried to get the boar and that's what its tusks had done. Now the attention switched to him and then Robert got down on his knees and pretended to be the pig and charged Jack. Jack dodged him and then hit him with the butt of the spear. I tried to get in to the circle, but everyone was blocking me from getting in. It was infuriating that I couldn't get in, this was my one chance to fit in and I couldn't get in to the circle. I finally made my way in to the inner ring and nailed Robert in the back with the butt of my spear and he began to cry. It felt really cool to do that because everyone admired me a little for being tough. It was starting to get dark and everyone was getting scared. Ralph said that we needed to go on any ways and find the beast we made our way to the mountain where the signal fire had been and stopped there for a minute. Ralph said that we should go look for the beast, but everyone was too scared. Then Jack volunteered and I had to volunteer as well to look cool. "We shouldn't go," said Robert sagely. As if he knew something bad was going to happen. After I had volunteered no one else did so we went towards the top of the mountain. On the way up no one said anything, but the whole time I was thinking about how I didn't like the way Ralph led and pretty soon I might start my own tribe only I didn't know if anyone else would join. When we reached the top it took us a while to work up the courage to look over the top and when we finally did we saw an ape like thing sitting up against a rock and then we knew the beast was real. Jack had been right all along and right then and there I thought Jack should be leader not Ralph.
"We need to keep going,"said Jack happy to be in charge.

Blog -9 Night Robbers
"It was murder I tell you!" Yelled Ralph. I tried to come for a reason to rationalize what we had done. "It wasn't murder," I replied. I told him we were all scared and that made us do it. I SHUDDERED at the thought of Simon laying in the sand face down in a puddle of blood.
"I wasn't scared," said Ralph.
"We were all scared,"I yelled franticly, GESTICULATING as I talked.
We decided that we weren't going to tell the twins about our involvement in last nights dance. Soon after our decision had been made they trotted out of the forest in unison. I rushed over to talk to them and I could see some scratches on their faces indicating that they had been there last night. Nobody talked about it too much because it was so depressing. We decided that we should restart the signal fire and spent most of the rest of the day collecting wood. Unfortunately I couldn't help on account of my asthma. It always made me feel bad that I couldn't contribute to the fire, but my glasses did start it so I guess that was enough. Later on in the day we went to get some fruit and then sat around by the fire eating it. It was almost dark and I stifled a yawn.
"We should get to bed," I said.
So we went to bed and all of fell asleep almost right away. Later on in the night we heard a noise outside and all of were scared thinking it might be the beast. When it began to speak to me I freaked out and began to hyperventalate. Then the whole hut crashed down on us and I was smothered by pieces of wood and leaves. Ralph was on top of something slamming his fists in to it. Then someone came out of nowhere and grabbed my specs right off my face and ran away. There was nothing I could do but lay there because of my asthma. I was still breathing heavily when the picked me up and sat me up against a tree.
Off in the distance I could see three figures off in the distance running down the beach. The waves crashed near them and the mood made it look like there were Phospherescent colors.
"I wasn't scared," said Ralph.

Blog-8 Back to Nature
I crept towards the top and tried to peer up to the top, but I still couldn't see what was up there. I tried to think of what to do when I got up there if there was a beast. All I could think about was the Lord of the Flies. The conversation had felt so real that I couldn't shake the feeling that it had actually happened. It scared me to think of what it had said about them doing me in. When I reached the top I was tremulous. When I worked up the courage to look I slowly peeked over the top of the mountain and there sat a parachutist covered in flies just like the lord of the flies. He was stuck on a rock and when the wind picked up he would rise and when the wind died down his head would fall back in to his lap. It startled me at first, but then I was sure he was dead and it made me sick. I threw up until nothing else would come out and then I approached the body gagging as I did. I untangled the mess of strings on the parachutes and released his body from the rock. I then set the body down gently and felt good that I had laid him to rest in a way. Something caught my eye off in the distance and saw a trickle of smoke. I had to get down there and tell them about the beast not being real. My legs were so tired that I could barely walk, but there was a steadfast dedication I had to move on tell them my secret. I staggered onward to the smoke blundering through the forest. When I reached the Smoke I saw a circle of savagery and corruption. They were dancing around in a circle chanting something about the beast. I saw Piggy and Ralph and rushed out to tell them about the parachutist. Everybody at the party screamed and then a whole riot of boys came at me with spears. They thought I was the beast. I tried to run away, but there were too many of them I got down to the beach then fell down and screamed bloody murder as spears pierced my skin. My life flashed before me and then something flew by. The parachutist. All the boys screamed thinking it was the real beast and they ran anway leaving me there to die. I layed there in the sand as the tide came up and decided there was no other place I would rather die and closed my eyes letting the tide take me out to sea.

Reaching The Top
I sat on top of the mountain and peered down at what I had just climbed. The sun shone down on me, and I put my cap on to keep myself from getting sun burned. Up here on the mountain top it was nice and quiet. The only sounds I heard were the sounds of my dad and step mom talking behind the rock I was sitting on. Their chatter was soothing and quiet, because I was focused on the view in front of me. Ahead of me was a whole range of mountains. I could see all the bright colored plants on the mountains and there were about a thousand different shades of green in the forests on the mountain. I looked down at to about where we had started and thought about looking at the sign that said my elevation and where we were going and how tall the top looked like from down here. At that moment I knew exactly how an ant felt. Now I was at the top sitting on a rock after passing all kinds of wildlife. Every step of the way the colors on the mountain started to change in to different shades and when we were almost to the top there were some patches of snow even though it was summer. After a few minutes break we made our way back down the mountain and a few clouds rolled in.

Blog 4- The ship
I was bewildered when I first saw it. It was so unbelievable that at first I though it was only a mirage, but when it did not go away I was delighted. Then I told Piggy and Simon, but they did not see it at first, which frustrated me and made me doubt whether it was really there or not. When I looked up at the signal fire I was devastated. It was not burning. Piggy asked if the signal fire was burning, but I had no time to answer. I was in a full sprint down the beach and when I reached the scar I didn't even look around to find the trail. I simply ran through everything in my way and when I finally emerged, my legs were covered in blood. I stood at the top watching the boat disappear in disbelief. The only thing I asked of them was to keep that fire going and now it was out, and all hope was lost for the time being. Then I saw something emerge from the jungle on the other side of the hill. When I focused in on what it was, I saw that it was the hunters. Their faces were all painted with opalescent white clay, along with some red and a line of black. When the entire group had come out, Sam and Eric followed with a pig on a spit. This was absolutely preposterous; they left the fire just so that they could go kill a pig. Right then Piggy arrived and at the sight of the fire began to whimper. I told him to be quiet, but I felt like I could break down in tears at any second out of pure frustration. When the group arrived I confronted Jack and could immediately see the malevolence in his eyes. He talked and talked about how amazing it was to kill the pig. And not until he finished could I get a word in edgewise.
"There was a boat," I said.
"What," he replied, finally interested in what was going on.
"You were supposed to keep the signal fire going."
"We wanted meat."
What he said was so irrelevant I almost punched him.
"If we had been rescued and gone home we could have feasted on any kind of meat we pleased."
Now Piggy chimed in, "If the lot of you had taken some responsibility in the first place this would never have happened. For god's sake it's the only thing important Ralph asked you to...." His rant was stopped by a hard smack to the face from Jack and he let out a shrill scream. His glasses flew off and one of the lenses shattered against a rock. Piggy was devastated. "Jack," I said. "I told you to keep the fire going and you didn't, I'm the leader here and I said to keep that fire going and you didn't."
"Fine, I apologize about the fire," he said with a hint of implication that it was not sincere, but not totally incredulous. He knew that he had to apologize to keep the people he had on his side loyal to him, for he needed some power on this island and could not give it up completely even though I had fairly won the election. At that moment I gave up and grabbed Piggy's specs to relight the fire. In about ten minutes there were pieces of meat gyrating on sticks. After Jack had handed Simon and I a piece of meat, Piggy asked if he could have one as well.
"No," was the answer from Jack.
"Please," he said.
"No, you didn't help hunt."
"Neither did Simon or Ralph and they still got some."
At that moment Simon slid a piece of meat to Piggy out of pure pity. Piggy thanked him and then began to devour it.
Jack slammed another piece down in front of Simon.
"Eat!" He yelled, "I hunted this for us and you will eat it!"
I had had enough. I got up and said that I was going to call a meeting right now and they should all come. Then I walked down the hill to the meeting place and didn't say another word. Not even a thank you for the meat.
I was furious with what Jack had done and was now doing. He had played a dirty trick on those boys tonight and I was not happy with it. It was time to call a meeting to make sure everyone was still loyal.

Blog three- The hunt
I stepped forward and ran in to a tendril and flinched thinking it was a snake. It scared me half to death. Hunting always scared me. I bent down and tried to read the tracks, but they were inscrutable, so I moved on just following instinct to find the pig. Moving throught he jungle was no simple task. There were vines and creepers festooned all over the place. Every time I emerged from the jungle I was covered in small cut and scrapes from all the plant and vines with barbs on them. All of a sudden, something out of place caught my eye on the ground and I almost stepped on it before stopping in front of it and bending down to see what it was. It was pig droppings. Fresh ones. This was my best bet so I followed the direction of the tracks after the poop and within ten meters I came across a pig and dove into cover. I gave the pig a furtive glance, so as not to be seen, then slowly moved forward towards the swine. The next time it put its head down to eat I moved forward a few more steps. I used this process to get close to the pig, when I was finally in striking distance I sat for a few seconds to catch my breath and think about what to do next. When I had thought out how to get it I leaped out of the plants and tried to stick my spear into it as fast as I could, but the pig was faster. It bewildered me how fast these pigs were. Back at home in England all of the pigs on the farms were fat and lazy, and I thought catching a pig should be an easy task, but I was truly deceived the first time I took a stab at one. So I walked back to the camp cursing the pig and the fact that it had gotten away. When I first saw the glimmer of the ocean as I made my way in to the scar I had to stop for a minute and soak in the view. Then I continued on and made my way out on to the beach in to the oppressive heat and headed towards where Ralph and Simon were trying to build huts, as I approached them Ralph confonted me.
"Why weren't you helping to build huts," he asked.
"I was hunting," I replied
"We need help building huts."
"We need meat."
This discussion went on for a while and I decided to give up the argument and go look for Simon who had dissapeared at some point in the conversation. We figured he would be at the bathing pool, but he was nowhere to be found. Ralph and I soon gave up our search and walked on to different places on the beach. As I walked down the beach I thought of what a glorious day it would be when I killed that first pig. I would flaunt it to everyone and maybe keep all the meat to myself just to make them jealous, or maybe I would give it to the littluns to get them on to my side. That sounded good so I searched for a place as darkness fell over the I sland and found a covered place somewhere near the forest. Ther I layed down and curled up in the sand and almost instantly fell asleep, exhausted from the day of hunting.

blog 2- The fire
After Ralph had said we needed a signal fire, the group of boys became tumultuous. Everybody broke into a chaotic run up the mountain. Ralph realized his mistake and took off after them up the mountain, leaving the conch on the ground. I picked it up, and when he turned around to see if I was coming, I gave him a scornful look. He turned back around then continued to catch up with the group. I looked back down at the conch, I felt like I had almost become one with it, almost like we were warped together. The conch was so important to what organization we had left, but right now it meant nothing to any one but me. Though I did not agree with the boy's savage behavior, the urge to be rescued was irresistible. So I headed off after them to make sure they weren't going to do anything stupid. All the other boys moved nimbly up the mountain and made it look easy, but for me this was a difficult task. I had almost caught up to the group when my asthma kicked in and I had to stop for a minute. When I finally made it to the top the boys had already started gathering wood. As I sat there wondering how this whole fire was going to start, the pile grew, and only when they were done did they start to think about the real problem at hand. How do we start it? If there had been any officiousness at all to what they were doing they would have thought of this before they went marching up the mountain. Everybody was embarrassed at how dumb they looked; they had just spent half an hour heaving wood up the hillside while I sat there trying not to laugh. It was Jack who first thought of an idea on how to start the fire, "gimme your specs," he said. "What for?" I replied. "To start the fire fatty, now hand them over." He then snatched them right off my nose and lit the fire with them. Then he gave them back, and I could see again. The fire began to grow and soon it was five meters high and was still growing. "More wood," yelled Ralph. "We need more wood." I told them they were going to burn up the whole Island, but that only made Jack angry and he yelled at me to shut up. Then a spark ignited a bit of creepers and the whole forest began to go up. "See what you've done," I told them. "You've gone and lit the whole Island on fire, what are we going to eat, and if every tree burns to the ground what shall we use as shelter. Don't you see what you've done? You're going to destroy the whole island." I tried to convince them that what they had done was bad, but no one listened even though I had the conch. They just ignored me. So there I sat and wached our food, our shelter and our hope burn to the ground.

The Scar
When we crashed down on to the island, I was sitting right at the front of where the plane had split in half after it was shot down. I was clambering over seats to get away from the massive hole in the front of the plane where I had been devouring my favorite book by Mark Twain. As I climbed past the other boys seats, I saw a terrible pallor on their faces. All the little boys were quivering with fear, sure they were about to die. As soon as the plane hit the trees, it all turned into a jumbled mess of metal, trees and the terrible screams of the boys who were flying out the front. I had just reached the middle of the half of the plane that was left when we hit the trees, and I went flying right down the isle and out in to the terrible scar the plane had made in the trees. For a moment, everything was a daze and all was quiet. Then, when the dust settled, an amazing clamor erupted as birds chirped and huge mosquitoes buzzed around the extremely hot, humid forest I suddenly found myself in. When I got to my feet and looked around, all I could see was a grating of trees so thick that I couldn't see more than three meters away. I speculated about my surroundings and how I would get out of this place, where the temperature easily exceeded 40 degrees Celsius. I vainly attempted to see in the forest, but the only light was the one coming from the scar which had left a huge hole in the forest. I decided that this would be the best way out and it might take me to the lagoon. As I made my way out of the forest, I heard a strident sound and decided to follow it. It didn't sound like any animal I had heard in the forest and, therefore, it must have been a human. I made my way out of the forest, tripping over roots and other low plants. When I emerged, I saw the lagoon, and what a sight it was. It brightened my mood to see such a beautiful thing, Then I turned around and saw the horrific scar, and I was overcome with sorrow immediately. The scar was such a depressing thing to look at, that if I never saw it again I would be delighted. Again, the sound made me realize that there were other boys here and it immediately cheered me up; I broke in to a run to get there faster. When I got there, a crowd of boys had already gathered. Not a second later a fat boy, whose name I later found out was Piggy, asked me my name. I told him and then joined the group. Right after that, a whole group of boys walked up that were led by a decorous boy named Jack. He said that he should be the leader of the group, but another boy quickly announced that there should be an election. All the others agreed. When we were done voting, a boy named Ralph had won the election. I could see the look of indignation on Jacks face; he was clearly upset with how the elections had gone. The fat boy spoke again, and Jack told him to shut up, then began teasing him by calling him fatty. Everybody laughed. Ralph quickly interposed, saying that his name was not Fatty, but Piggy. Again the crowd erupted in laughter and Piggy turned bright red. After everyone had settled down, Ralph said that we should send out a party to see if this was really an island or not. Ralph chose himself, Jack, and was then looking for one more person to go. There were plenty of volunteers, but Ralph chose a boy named Simon, and the three started off immediatele. Piggy complained that he should get to go too, but Ralph insisted that he stay and take names. He then turned and caught up with the other two, and headed towards the mountain to get a good look at our surroundings.
